End of February Vibes

A lot has happened over the last couple of weeks. Happy to see we are in the last week of February.

On Saturday February 15th, my mom and I made a homemade sauce. My Aunt Bug’s recipe. She makes a delicious meat sauce and a very good baked ziti. We tried to make it, but it was too thick. Aunt Bug gave us some tips of how to make it less thick. Mom and I plan to attempt it again. In hopes it will taste better.
That same evening, my childhood army bestie, texted me saying that she loved her birthday card and her gift. I got her a T-shirt that said “My Best Friend bought me this shirt.”

On Monday February 17th, since it was Presidents Day, my friend Abby had the day off from work. So I accepted the invitation to go to her house and bake. We made homemade soft pretzels and Funfetti Strawberry flavored brownie shaped cake with vanilla, green colored frosting. The time we get to spend together is always great.

*I’ve been unemployed since October 2019. My job coach has been looking for jobs that would be the perfect fit for me and an easy commute. She found this bakery named Colsons which was in a business community area of Brooklyn. A much shorter commute from my house compared to my previous job*

On Friday February 21st, I had a tryout at Colsons. The chief executive gave me and my job coach a tour of the bakery. She introduced me to the Scones Group. The ones in charge of making the scones. I then had my opportunity to test out of skills by cutting the scones out of the dough, weighing them and placing it on the tray. Afterwards, I met with chief, and she told me that I got the job. I’m officially employed again. Very thankful for everyone who prayed for me and for my job coach who worked hard to find the perfect match.

February 1, 2020

Hello Feburary!

Although it didn't feel like it this year, January still will forever be the longest month of the year. It defiantly helped that I was away for part of the month. Happy that January is gone. Hello February!

February is full of so many things. Two of my favorite parts of this month is Valentine's Day and my childhood best friend's birthday.

What makes our friendship so special is that both of our birthdays fall on the 22nd. Mine is in June. For her birthday, I always make sure I send her a surprise because she deserves to smile after a long week at work. Sometimes I send her a random card just to tell her how special she is and how thankful I am to have her in my life. I recently discovered that she started collecting postcards, so now I make sure I send her a postcard from every vacation that I go on. The best part about our long-lasting friendship is that we can talk about anything and we are always honest with each other. That's why we are still Best Friends to this day.

Recently I started my own tradition for Valentine's Day where I send a card to my friends and my two cousins Eimear and Sophie. It's my way of just saying that I will always love them and I am thankful to have them in my life. I call it Galentine's Day. Most people assume this holiday is for people who are dating, engaged or married. But in my opinion, I believe that you can send Valentine's Day cards to your friends. After all, if you want to show them once a year how much you honestly care about them, then I think this is the perfect holiday.

What are some of your favorite things about February?
